Weekly league is the best way for junior curlers to build their skills and have a great time curling. When junior curlers reach an appropriate level of achievement (the Red level, usually achieved after about six weeks of practice) we encourage them to play weekly in Sunday Evening league games. They start on a team with experienced junior curlers and in some cases adult teammates. They play against other junior teams as well as adult teams.
Evergreen CC offers three league seasons (Fall, Winter and Spring), and a 50% junior discount on league fees. ECC membership is required for member leagues. Junior members may also sub into league games (there is no fee for subbing) to try league to see if they like it. Games are 8 ends (2 hours) with start times alternating between 5pm and 7:30pm each Sunday evening. Junior members are welcome to play in leagues on other days as well.
Each year Evergreen CC offers several bonspiels and championships that welcome competitive junior curlers. A bonspiels is a social weekend event with an accompanying curling competition. Championships are official competitions leading to qualification for national or international events. Both bonspiels and championships welcome junior curlers.
Each year all of our junior curlers are invited to travel to Seattle to compete in the Granite CC Junior Bonspiel, a fun event for west coast junior curlers.
League and bonspiel games are not coached directly, but our coaches often attend the games or watch the video stream and give feedback to the junior curlers afterward. Coaches and teammates help new curlers with technical skills, team dynamics and etiquette.
