  • U18 Nationals Results

MoPac U18 Nationals 2017 03 11 Last week (March 7-12, 2017) six Evergreen CC junior curlers competed at the inaugural USA Curling U18 National Championships at Milwaukee CC in Cedarburg, WI.   The Whirlies (Lily Irvin, Maya Horten, Clara Mays and Elsa Naimo) and Team Morley (Casey Morley, Marty Hill, Asa Bensaid of SFBACC and Nelson Rogers of SFBACC) represented MoPac in the girls and boys divisions respectively.   Each division was split into two pools of 6 teams with full round-robin play within each pool over the course of Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Both teams finished 1-4 in their pools.   Team Morley won a very tight, well-played game over Minnesota (Charlie Thompson) and forced eventual pool champion Washington (Luc Violette) to make a difficult triple takeout in the 8th end to win.     The Whirlies defeated Minnesota (Anya Normandeau), and were only narrowly defeated in three other pool-play games.   They took the Wisconsin junior champions (Andie McDonald) to extra ends in an amazing, closely-contested Saturday morning game that had all coaches and spectators biting their nails.

The boys division was eventually won by a strong Wisconsin team skipped by Mike Elwing, and the girls division was won by an outstanding Minnesota team that included USCA High-Performance Program

  • Club Championship Calcutta

Once again this year we will be running a Calcutta Auction at the Evergreen CC Club Championship. Calcutta’s are often run at Golf Tournaments, March Madness, and other sporting events, such as Curling Bonspiels. They are a fun and exciting way to involve fans in the competition.   Last year we had a great time with our first Calcutta.

We will be hosting our Calcutta auction on Friday April 7 at 7:30PM (immediatly following the first draw). We plan to pair teams together for the Auction and then "sell" 8 pairs of teams to the highest bidders.

All money paid goes into the prize pool and is distributed to the owners of winning teams in the Club Championship.

Anyone may bid on any pair of teams including members of the team being auctioned, a member of another team or anyone else that wants to participate. You do not have to be present to bid on teams but you will need someone to bid on your behalf. And you may purchase as many teams as you would like. It is traditional in Calcuttas to form a group ahead of time to pool your money (called a “syndicate”).

    Here is some information
